HAPPY BIRTHDAY WESTRA CENTRE

Thursday, August 6th, 2009

The centre celebrated its first year of opening on the 13th of August by having an open day. The day was well attended and we would like to thank everyone who helped make it such a fun day.
The children particularly enjoyed the bouncy castle and they took advantage of the free tattoo’s. Some of them ended up covered in them, but at least they had fun which was what the day was about.

PUBLIC MEETING FEEDBACK

Friday, March 27th, 2009

Thank you to everyone who attended this meeting and showed their support.
Thanks should also go to the Deacons for allowing us to use the Mission for this meeting.
Also attending were Cllr David Crowther, C.S.O’s and George Houghton from the Council.

It was with some relief that Mr Houghton readily agreed that the estate had a significant problem with parking. After listening to residents accounts of the problems faced on a daily basis, he proposed that a survey of the estate would take place over a varied period. The results of this survey would then be looked at, and a proposal plan be set out. He intends that the plan should be available for residents to view, before a further public meeting is arranged. Residents will be informed where and when this plan will be available to view. The C.S.O’s will continue to book all vehicles causing an obstruction till parking restrictions are put in place.

Parking Issues

Sunday, March 1st, 2009

Westra have been inundated with complaints about the parking of late.

As many of you will already be aware, we have been campaigning about this issue for some time now.
We have been waiting for the shift of control from the Police to the Council to take place, which has now been done.
The situation has got worse since the introduction of the parking metres in the town centre.
Not only has Lyon Street become even more of nightmare, the cars have now started to encroach in to neighbouring closes.

We have been trying to arrange a public meeting with the relevant council officials to discuss the problem and we have now been given three possible dates for April.
Once a definite date has been confirmed we will book a local venue for the meeting and leaflet all residents homes with the meeting information.

I would appeal to all residents to try to attend this meeting as without your support we may not get the results we would like to put an end to this situation.

Junk Mail

Sunday, February 8th, 2009

Is it us or is all this junk mail (take-away leaflets in particular) getting ridiculous? We even got one today! (Sunday)
Just how many of these places do we have in St Helens?. Our paper recycle bag ends up full of them.
We’d be interested to hear your views on the subject.
