COMMUNITY GARDEN LAUNCH

His worship the Mayor will officially open the community garden on Lyon close on

FRIDAY 11th JUNE

This is a really rewarding event for us at Westra as this project has been a long time in the planning, and we have been let down by various agencies when trying to get it underway. Thankfully we were introduced to St Helens Chamber who agreed to take the work on, and as a result they have worked really hard to get the project up and running. The garden will be used by Westra Kids Club members to grow vegetables and flowers with a few plots set aside for the use of residents and the Brownie group from St Thomas’s church. The opening will be followed by a buffet lunch at Raglan Court and we hope you will come and help us celebrate.

JUMBLE SALE

Westra will be holding a jumble sale on
TUESDAY 22ND JUNE
AT PETER ST CENTRE
12pm till 3pm
All proceeds from the sale are going to Donna’s Dream House in Blackpool.
After the excellent support you all gave to the Spring raffle, we hope residents will help us boost the funds further by attending this event. Light refreshments will also be available.

Reflexology Information

Unfortunately current funding for this free service has come to an end.
But as this has proved to be a very popular service we have now submitted an application for further funding and we are waiting to hear if we have been successful or not. If we receive further funding the treatments will be extended to include massage and chiropody. There will be no appointments for April but we hope to resume the service in May should the funding be approved.

WESTRA AGM

SERVICES UPDATE

Housing Associations are giving regular updates of service on their web sites, as is the Council. You can access the web sites by clicking the links on the right of the page.
HOW CAN YOU HELP
As you are all aware although there has been a slight thaw, roads and pavements are still in a dangerous state. If you are able to do so, it would be off great help if residents could try to clear paths in front of their properties. If we can at least make some of the pavements a little safer so people can get from A to B it may help in avoiding slips and injuries.

COLD WEATHER UPDATE

Due to the bad weather our office is closed, we will veiw the weather situation on a daily basis to see when it will be possible for us to reopen. Meanwhile could residents please keep a check on elderly neighbours to make sure they are safe during this cold spell.

PARKING MEETING

George Houghton from St Helens Council has now completed his investigations in to the estates parking problems. He has put together possible proposals which will be put forward at a public meeting on

This is a chance for you the residents to decide what you think will work best for the estate.

ARENA SURGERY

LLANDUDNO DAY TRIP

The estate trip to Llandudno turned out to be an enjoyable day. The weather although windy stayed fine, with most of the families choosing to spend the day at the beach. One of the children lost his newly purchased ball to the sea, but he soon forgot about it when the free entertainment started, which included a Punch & Judy show.
